- If you don’t like Swiss cheese, substitute with nearly any sliced cheese variety. Cheddar, mozzarella, American, or Monterey Jack cheeses all work great.
- This recipe can be halved if desired. Simply create a smaller sun shape with 1 can of dough and halve the remaining ingredients.
- If served as a main entree, this ring is perfect paired with a side salad, raw vegetables and dip, steamed/sautéed/roasted vegetables or soup.
What to Serve with Crescent Ham and Cheese Ring
The best part about a crescent roll recipe is that is can be served as an appetizer or main course. I often like to serve it with a salad like a broccoli cranberry salad, maple dijon salad, or a house salad.
A soup is also a great option to serve with Hawaiian crescent rolls. My crockpot gnocchi soup is so comforting and my Italian sausage tortellini soup has so much flavor.
Storage
- For the Refrigerator: Store completely cooled leftovers it in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. To reheat, you can place individual slices or the entire ring in the oven or air fryer at a low temperature until warmed through.
- For the Freezer: Freeze in a freezer-safe, air-tight container and freeze up to 3 months. Let it thaw in the refrigerator, then reheat it in the microwave or oven. Keep in mind this will compromise the flakiness of the dough.
